"gone with the wind", or the great joint help of WITRAKTOR in marupe and jaunmarupe

On Saturday, 18 April, at 10:00, 15 brave helpers from Witraktor under guidance of the Witraktor Sales Director Jānis Vīksna gathered in Daugavas Street 38 in order to set to collecting of waste on the road from Marupe to Jaunmarupe.
Our supporters – Roberts Nordmanis, Regīna Ikala and the winner of the „Latvian Operators Competition 2008”  Juris Steps had arrived to the joint help together with the Witraktor people. And so, the team under the self-invented philosophic title „The Way” started their work at about 10:30 binding themselves to clear both the roadsides of the highway P132 from the house „Krones” to Marupe turning, and the planned road span till the Jaunmarupe traffic circle.  At about 11:30, a couple of helpers joined us – the inhabitants of Marupe Kaspars Blumbergs with his daughter Justīne, and that was a really pleasant surprise, because it was already clear then that there will be a great lot of work. So the unforeseen „reinforcements” were allocated reflective CAT waistcoats and warm caps, and the work went on!

The wind was blowing quite seriously, and we understood very soon after starting the work that not only the sacks of collected waste must be tied up tightly so that the rubbish could not fall out onto the road, but also care should be taken for the sacks with the most light-weighted waste were not carried away by air. When we had got to the Stipnieki turning, we decided to take the filled sacks to the garbage dump by ourselves, otherwise in case of such weather continuing for a couple more hours, all our hard work would be literally „gone by wind”. And so, a team was mobilised for taking away the waste – the red Toyota Hiace minibus of the warehouse and a team of guys who carried by several tours more than 15 m3 of various waste to Marupe landfill. Supposedly there is no need to explain to anyone having participated at a joint help at least once what was in those black sacks – everything from plastic bottles, glass tare, scrap metal, polythene, pieces of old crockery and more, and more, and more... It seems surprising how all this had appeared on road side. As one of our helpers said – „ I could not produce in five of my lifetimes such amount of garbage I have collected today”!

There was also some fun – a real viper was met in the last year’s grass, a person „without a definite residence” (a tramp) was frightened away from bushes, and countless business cards, car model labels were found as well as a music CD player still in working order. In spite of wind and cold we worked till  4 p.m. because we did not want to leave the begun work halfway, although towards the finish, both the helpers' forces and the waste sacks started running out.

Finally we did what was planned! And this gives real satisfaction, because now we will be able to enjoy a clean road on our daily way from the office in Marupe to service workshops in Jaunmarupe! Meanwhile, two other Witraktor teams of 9 men worked in the territory of service workshops in Jaunmarupe – they put to order the warehouse of machinery and equipment and the premises of the service hangar.

At about 16:00, all Witraktor helpers in Marupe – Jaunmarupe came together in the service workshop of Jaunmarupe, where we were welcomed with hot broth, barbecue and other useful things for a picnic!
Once more – many thanks to all our helpers! Your support is invaluable!!
